Graphic Design Worlds /Words
While working at Studio Camuffo, I took part in the project Graphic Design Worlds (see here). In addition to working on the exhibition, I was asked to write an essay about the Italian graphic designers in the exhibition for the catalogue, Graphic Design Worlds /Words. The essay ('Stories and Atoms') is featured among the other writings from Italian critics. Here is the image I realized in collaboration with my friend Matteo Zago, which represents the topic of the essay.
The essay assumes that the graphic design is made of rules and well-defined issues (atoms), but also of the stories that graphic designers tell through it; and each project of graphic design is itself the story of some kind of reality.
So I made this picture: the structure beneath, very geometric and precise, are the atoms; the other above, more free, spontaneous and curve, represents the stories. And the central point, where all the lines meet, it might be the graphic design, which collects everything, and from which at the same time everything explodes.
